ReceptorPharma is a Swedish orphan receptor drug discovery company, with a unique disruptive business approach, including a fearlessness and uncanny drive to reach its objectives. Our business idea is enabled by two ambitious founders with expertise and know-how within orphan receptors and the startup ecosystems, in conjunction with global timing and a few dashes of serendipity. ReceptorPharma has the opportunity to pursue some of the largest crippling diseases plaguing the world, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and cancers.
Our primary focus is on one particular receptor, one which recently has been discovered to drive Alzheimer’s pathology through a unique mechanism, whereby it increases the amount of amyloid-beta peptides, the constituents of the plaques found in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients. Strong peer-reviewed scientific data supports our way of approaching the disease. Additionally, our unique approach to try to solve this disease has attracted a Key Opinion Leader within Alzheimer’s disease biology, Professor Gunnar Gouras, to not only join our Scientific Board, but also to let our CSO join his research group at Lund University as a guest researcher. Moreover, our inventive scientific- and business model has attracted two additional Professors at Lund University, Professor Roger Olsson and Professor Fredrik Leeb-Lundberg, to also join our Scientific Board.
By participating in Smart Ageing 2018, we have gained invaluable contacts, all over Europe, in the participants and arrangers of the Bootcamp. The camaraderie between the founders of the startups has led to new friends and future potential business partners. Furthermore, the pitching practice and development has greatly contributed to us being able to confidently present our project and business idea in a much improved way than prior to the Bootcamp.
